Hearts Memory Quilt

I was asked to make a memory quilt for a friend’s 21 years old cousin whom passed away 2 years ago to a drug overdose. She brought me several pieces of his favorite clothes, including his gym shorts, sweat shirt, t-shirts, and a pair of his favorite boxers. I designed the quilt around the clothing, When cutting pieces I made sure to include the stains, holes, and sewn zippers and pockets all of which his mother could explain. For the center of the quilt I appliqued hearts cut from his boxers. His mother sent me the most touching thank you note, saying “for 2 years I’ve missed my son terribly. But as soon as I wrapped your memory quilt around me I felt his presence with me. “
